Covid 19 Instructions & Precautions
Welcome to our lady of angels church!
Instructions to be followed in our church
and particularly for the eucharistic celebrations.
Dear brothers and sisters,
FOR EVERYONE'S SAFETY, WE ASK YOU TO RESPECT THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS
Respect
the distance of 1.5 m between each person
To wear a mask is compulsory in the Church premises
Use the hydro alcoholic gel made available to everyone at the three entrances of our Church
For the celebration of Masses - as soon as the public celebrations are again possible
- Maximum number of participants for the liturgical celebration in our Church will be 60. If the maximum authorized number of faithful is reached, access to the church will no longer be possible.
- Only occupy the places indicated by the signs. Only two can sit at both ends of the benches
- Exchange the sign of peace with a smile or a nod
- Keep a distance from others in the communion queue and follow the organized movement so that people do not meet
- Receive communion only in the hand
- You can offer your contributions after the mass in the Dumb boxes kept in front of the Altar.
- Gradually leave the church and do not remain crowded in the Church premises
- Pregnant women, children and the vulnerable are invited to protect themselves by joining the celebrations spiritually from Home. If someone is in need of Spiritual assistance, kindly intimate to us.
In these difficult Pandameic times, Sunday celebrations could not be held in our church. The financial contribution on Sundays was obviously very much affected. Your generous contributions are not only a liturgical gesture among others during Sunday Mass, it is more than ever an act of essential solidarity for our Parish to live. Each of us is called to make an extra effort to contribute more to the sustenance of the Parish.
Thank you all for respecting and following these instructions, so that we may live our spiritual life in joy and peace.
God bless you!
Pastoral Council
Canon 536 §1 of the 1983 code States that
If the diocesan bishop judges it opportune after he has heard the presbyteral council, a pastoral council is to be established in each parish,
over which the pastor presides and in which the Christian faithful, together with those who share in pastoral care by virtue of their office in the parish, assist in fostering pastoral activity.
§2. A pastoral council possesses a consultative vote only and is governed by the norms established by the diocesan bishop.
Our Choir
This is the only church in the world that offers regular mass in three languages – French, Tamil and English.
There are three different beautiful choirs for each language. They are very active and sing for mass throughout the week.
English
The English choir is formed mostly by the youth. They are a very active group of youngsters spreading the music ministry for Christ. They, along with the youth of the French choir have participated and won in many Gospel singing competitions. They are always present and happy to sing for all the weddings that take place in our church. This group of youngsters take part in a lot of church activities. The English choir practices every Saturday at 5:30pm in the Cluny music school.
French
The French choir is formed by French speaking people of Pondicherry and are of different age groups. They are the only French church choir in Pondicherry. The old choir members meet once a year, in the month of August and sing for the Sunday French mass and the Annual Church feast. They practice every Saturday at 5:30pm in the Parish Hall.
Tamil
The Tamil choir is formed by the boys of the orphanage. They are a group of enthusiastic children who sing for Tamil mass and Tamil Novena prayers.
Altar Servers
“Being an altar server is a call to prayer and mission. The more you will remember to speak with Jesus in daily prayer; the more you will be nourished by the word and the body of the Lord, the better able you will be to go out to others, bringing them the gift that you have received, giving in turn with enthusiasm the joy you have received.” – Pope Francis.
It’s mostly the children from the boys home who serve as altar servers in our church. They are dedicated and are well prepared before each mass.
Our Catechism
Every Sunday the youth of the Parish conduct Catechism classes for children of age 7 to 9 years from 9.30 AM to 10.30 PM. Apart from this, 1st holy communion and confirmation classes are also conducted in French, English and Tamil languages every Saturday and Sunday.
